Stanley Smith (American Dad, TV Show)

Why this site?
theWorldIsMyOyster is a travel blog with photos for our friends and family to keep tabs on us throughout our small journey around the world. It can also be used as a guide around the places we visited and can offer advice about pricing a trip around the world.

Who are the travellers behind theWorldIsMyOyster?
We are a group of university friends that went through the same pretty mundane and yet extraordinary four years. The four years at this multinational university has given us a desire for meeting new people and experiencing new cultures before we settle down to the daily grind of waking at nine and finishing god knows when in a city profession. Also, knowing each other for four years will hopefully mean that we don't end up killing or maiming each other over the trip :D

Why this trip?
Well the only thing I can reply to this is, because we can! :P Well actually it is not that simple. All of us want to see and experience more then we have currently in the wonderful climate of England. We, as motivated university students have lost many summers working and struggling for experience and money to pay for university living, so that we can get employed at the end. Well we all succeeded in finally getting employment and we all managed to persuade the companies to give us some time off. So the answer is why not! As my father recently asked me:
Dad: "I don't understand what you will do over this year?"
Answer: "Nothing!"
Dad: "But why?"
Answer: "Because I can! What else would I do? I have the rest of my life to work!"
Dad: "But you need to start and experience lifeE." (yes I also thought that was profound, however, I like a Leo Tolstoy quote which should serve us well "If you want to be happy, be.")
At this point the conversation descended quickly and I gave up! There are no reasons not to this.

Our philosophy!
"The soul of a journey is liberty, perfect liberty, to think, feel, do just as one pleases" William Hazlitt
So the travelling should be action packed and frenetic. We will be trying to spend a year by the beach in the best that summer can offer around the world. However, there is a high probability that many of the photo's will be at night time and of questionable value. "A journey is like marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it." John Steinbeck
We will obviously eat all of the local grub and no doubt will spend a lot of time on the toilet. We have Thai ladyboys, sweaty coaches and many other perilous adventures ahead of us.

As a great thinker said

"It's one thing reading a book and another thing understanding a book"
Keko, 2005
So read carefully!!!
